About the integration

Ever been stuck searching for that one answer you know exists somewhere?

You’ve scoured through threads, DMed your colleagues, and still—no luck. Sound familiar?

With SiftHub bot for Slack, those days are over. Simply @SiftHub in any Slack channel (public or private) and ask your question. Instantly, you'll get a response powered by the collective knowledge of all your connected sources on the SiftHub Platform.

No more digging, no more guessing—just answers, right when you need them.

SiftHub connects to Slack through a native app you install directly in your workspace. Once installed, you choose which public and private channels to index. SiftHub reads messages, threads, and attachments from those channels, and makes them available for AI-generated responses across your deal workflows.

Category Details
What gets connected You can connect public channels and private channels that you have access to. When you connect a channel, SiftHub will be able to read and index the following content: your messages, threads, replies, and attachments (in supported formats).
How it works (Slack Connector) SiftHub maintains all native Slack permissions and makes content available for semantic search and AI response generation.
How it works (SiftHub Bot for Slack) You can ask SiftHub questions in both public and private channels or send the bot a DM to get the information you need, when you need it.
Access controls Users will see only content from all public channels to which they are added. Private channel content is only visible to users who have access to that channel. Permissions automatically update with any changes in Slack.

Is SiftHub's Slack integration secure?

SiftHub only indexes the channels you explicitly connect. Here's how the rest of the security model works.

  • Scoped by design: SiftHub indexes only the channels you select. Nothing gets pulled in without your action.
  • Permissions are respected: Private channel content is visible only to users with access in Slack. Access updates automatically when permissions change.
  • Data is encrypted: All Slack data is encrypted in transit and at rest using industry-standard protocols.
  • Enterprise-grade compliance: SiftHub is SOC 2 Type II certified across all connector types.

How much Slack history does SiftHub index?
SiftHub indexes up to 6 months of message history from connected channels.
Can I control which channels get indexed?
Yes. Select channels during setup and update them at any time from Connectors → Apps → Slack → Manage in the SiftHub Web App.
Will SiftHub surface informal Slack messages in RFP responses?
SiftHub is designed to prioritize more authoritative sources when available. Slack content may appear in the results, but the AI deprioritizes it in favor of verified sources such as your knowledge base or product documentation.
Does SiftHub respect Slack's native permissions?
Yes. Public channel content is visible to members of that channel. Private channel content is only visible to users with access in Slack. Changes are picked up automatically.
What file types does SiftHub index from Slack?
SiftHub indexes Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, PDF, CSV, and text file attachments shared in connected channels. Files must be under 1GB.
What happens if a message or file is deleted in Slack?
Deleted content is automatically removed from SiftHub results in the next sync cycle.
