About the integration

Ever been stuck searching for that one answer you know exists somewhere?

You’ve scoured through threads, DMed your colleagues, and still—no luck. Sound familiar?

With SiftHub bot for Slack, those days are over. Simply @SiftHub in any Slack channel (public or private) and ask your question. Instantly, you'll get a response powered by the collective knowledge of all your connected sources on the SiftHub Platform.

No more digging, no more guessing—just answers, right when you need them.

SiftHub connects to Notion through an integration you create in your Notion workspace. You generate an integration token, configure the required capabilities, and activate the connector directly from the SiftHub Web App. Setup is fully self-serve and takes approximately 10 minutes.

Connection type SiftHub connects to Notion via an integration created in your Notion workspace. A Notion Workspace Owner generates the integration token and configures capabilities. A SiftHub Admin or Account Owner activates the connector from the SiftHub Web App.

Setup takes approximately 10 minutes and is fully self-serve.
What gets indexed SiftHub indexes page content, text, headings, lists, quotes, callouts, and rich text, along with supported attachments including Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, PDFs, CSVs, and text files under 1GB.

All child pages you have full access to are automatically included. Media content such as images, videos, and audio is not indexed.
How it works SiftHub scans your indexed Notion pages, including product docs, solution guides, competitive intel, and runbooks, and surfaces relevant content across RFP responses, meeting prep, follow-up collateral, and handover docs.

Every answer links back to the exact Notion page it originated from. SiftHub combines this with context from your CRM, Slack, Gong, and other connected tools to provide a complete picture of every deal.
Content updates SiftHub syncs new and modified content every 30 minutes. This includes new pages, edits, changes to child pages, and deletions.

Deleted content is automatically removed from SiftHub results.
Access controls All connected Notion pages are visible to all users in your SiftHub account. Notion page-level permissions are not enforced within SiftHub.

It is important to consider this when selecting which pages to connect.

Is SiftHub's Notion integration secure?

SiftHub only indexes the Notion pages you explicitly connect. Here's how the rest of the security model works.

  • You stay in control: SiftHub indexes only the pages and workspaces you connect during setup. Nothing gets pulled in automatically; every page must be deliberately added, and you can remove access at any time.
  • Visibility within SiftHub: All connected Notion pages are visible to all users in your SiftHub account. Keep this in mind when deciding which pages to connect.
  • Your data is encrypted: All Notion data is encrypted in transit and at rest using industry-standard protocols.
  • Enterprise-grade compliance: SiftHub is SOC 2 Type II-certified and meets enterprise security standards for all connector types.

Setup is fully self-serve and takes approximately 10 minutes. You'll create a Notion integration, configure its capabilities, activate the connector in SiftHub, and then connect the specific pages you want indexed.

1. Connection requirements

Before you begin, make sure you have the following, or contact the relevant administrator:

  • Notion Workspace Owner access: required to create the integration and generate the token
  • SiftHub Admin or Account Owner role: required to activate the connector from SiftHub Web App → Connectors → Apps

Step 1: Create an integration token

Create a new integration in your Notion workspace, name it ‘SiftHub Connector,’ associate it with the workspace you want to connect, and save it to generate your integration token.

Step 2: Enable required capabilities

In the SiftHub Connector integration settings, enable Read content under Content capabilities and Read user information, including email addresses, under User capabilities. Save your changes and copy the Internal Integration Secret.

Step 3: Activate the Connector in SiftHub

In the SiftHub web app, go to Connectors → Apps → Notion and click Connect. Enter your Internal Integration Secret and follow the prompts to set up a webhook subscription in Notion. This enables real-time content updates. The setup wizard walks you through each step.

Step 4: Connect your Notion pages

Once activated, connect the SiftHub Connector to any page, teamspace, or workspace you want indexed, directly from within Notion. Child pages you have full access to are connected automatically. You can add or remove connections at any time.

2. Activation and timing

Setup time ~10 minutes
Sync frequency after activation Every 30 minutes
Manual sync Not available

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be a Notion Workspace Owner to connect SiftHub?
Yes, for the initial setup. A Workspace Owner is needed to create the integration and generate the token. Once that's done, any member can connect individual pages to SiftHub. On Enterprise plans, the ability to add connections may be restricted to Workspace Owners.
How long does setup take?
Approximately 10 minutes. Once activated, new and modified content is available in SiftHub within 30 minutes.
Can I control which Notion pages get indexed?
Yes, precisely. SiftHub only indexes pages you explicitly connect to the SiftHub Connector integration. You can add or remove connections at any time from within Notion, no admin access required for individual page connections.
Are child pages automatically included?
Yes. All child pages you have full access to are automatically connected when you connect a parent page. Pages you have no access to, or only view-only access to, will not be connected, even if their parent page is.
Can I connect multiple Notion workspaces?
Yes, but this requires a custom setup. Reach out to your SiftHub CSM for instructions.
What happens if I connect a page I shouldn't have?
Simply disconnect it. Navigate to the page in Notion, open the Kebab menu (•••), hover over SiftHub Connector, and click Disconnect. SiftHub will stop indexing that page and remove it from results within 30 minutes.
Does SiftHub index database content in Notion?
SiftHub indexes the text content of Notion pages, including content within databases. However, advanced block types, such as equations and template buttons, are not indexed. Media content, images, videos, and audio are also not indexed, though file names are captured.
Can SiftHub index attachments inside Notion pages?
Yes. SiftHub indexes supported file attachments embedded in Notion pages, including Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, Excel spreadsheets, PDFs, CSVs, and text files. Files must be under 1GB to be indexed.
What if a team member leaves and their Notion pages need to be disconnected?
Any SiftHub user can remove a connection directly on an individual page in Notion. For workspace-level changes or bulk disconnections, a Notion Workspace Owner can manage connections across the workspace. On Enterprise plans, connection management may be restricted to Workspace Owners only.
Can SiftHub use Notion content alongside other connected tools?
Yes. Notion is one source in a broader intelligence layer. SiftHub combines it with your CRM, Slack, Gong, Confluence, and other connectors so that responses, prep briefs, and handover docs always reflect the full picture, not just what's in your Notion workspace.
